BEAUTIFUL SHRINK WRAPPED RETROMATTE FINISH 2 X 12" LP SET [IMPORTED FROM GERMANY] VERY LIMITED UPFRONT ARTIST COPIES!
Description: At the heart of ‘Diese Fragile Praesenz’ lies a melancholic yet propulsive drone, constructed from a field recording and drenched in white noise. Around this softly glowing orb Kelovolt constructs a vast, shifting, sombre soundscape. Lush, magisterial pads, starry-eyed synth work, cold washes of tape hiss and static melt in and out of the mise-en-scène. Crumbling walls of bass and distortion collapse in slow motion even as rich, brasslike harmonies elevate the listening mind. Long keening synth notes emerge from the fog, intertwining with falling tubular figures, a journey through a wormhole of sound both monumental and fragile. The accompanying reinterpretations approach this deeply rich source material with discerning reverence. Voltmar's version deepens the grain of the original, with sharper percussion and washes of static that blow through the mix like little gales of dust. Anthony Linell's PM and AM remixes delve into a darker emotional core, placing at the centre a low, shadowy synth pulse around which mists of tape hiss and distortion swirl. Black Merlin steers the track down the path of eerie psychedelia, echoing clicks and dubwise space around a groove often found in the deeper chasms of contemporary techno. Elsewhere, Die Wilde Jagd stretches the original into a mesmeric landscape of drones, occasional distant percussion and heavy fog, punctuated by fleeting moments of melodic clarity and beautifully resonant bell tones. CV313's pair of reworks complete the collection by exploring two complementary dimensions of the original through his signature dub approach. The Gravitational Pull mix feels the most true to the title track, amplifying its starry-eyed, celestial qualities, with a softer, hazier version built around a deep bass groove, while the Dimensional Dub descends into vast caverns of echo, resonance and alien texture - strong dub-techno sensibilities loom large in this mix. Endlessly contemplative, endlessly exploratory, minimood027 is a trip to its own sonic galaxy that spirals inexorably outward, carrying the mind to ever wider astral planes. But at the core is that ever-pulsing drone, the black abyss that draws consciousness powerlessly back into the great nothingness.

We're excited to announce the secondary edition of Variant's "Sequential Sleep" (ver1.2) a beautiful complement to the original, but at the same time, entirely unique. Taking the foundation and elements of (ver1) and stripping it back into the ether, dubbed out and treated from reel-to-reel tape creating an almost vaporous atmosphere all its own, deep, organic and mystical. Utilizing a combination of purely analog mixing, a variety of field recording methods and dubbing it in real time, hands on the controls, no edits, no computer, just the ghostly harmonics and shivery bi-products you would come to expect of obsolete vintage electronics. The analog warmth has never sounded so sweet, mixed at antique modulation in Ann Arbor.

"Playing CD#2 of Sequential Sleep (ver1.2) and it's breathtaking. I really love this long form stuff. You're a master at this. Full immersion sound fields. Very organic. Robert Rich talked about "glurp" in an old Keyboards Magazine (about 1989 I think). He said this glurpy area is where sounds that are organic sound electronic, and electronic sounds seem organic. He strived to create a sound where you couldn't tell what was natural and what was electronic. You're in that zone. Am I listening to the wind, or am I listening to phased noise from a synth? I don't really want to know. I prefer just enjoying it and not over-analyzing it. Beautiful stuff." -Rod Modell

Behind and beyond these recordings therein lies the inspiration of its mysticism:

“WHEN WE pay attention to nature’s music we find that every thing on the earth contributes to its harmony. The trees joyously wave their branches in rhythm with the wind; the sound of the sea, the murmuring of the breeze, the whistling of the wind through rocks, hills and mountains; the flash of the lightning, and the crash of the thunder, the harmony of the sun and moon, the movements of the stars and planets, the blooming of the flower, the fading of the leaf, the regular alternation of morning, evening, noon, and night, all reveal to the seer the music of nature.” - The Mysticism of Sound and Music

The opium of openness by which all that dream, in wakefulness, or in sleep become one in the same dream...

Thoughts:

Gently swimming on the sleep-trails of Max Richter’s phenomenal Sleep opus from 2015, Sequential Sleep is an ambient two-part CD release ‘made for dreaming, a sonic travelogue set in multiple locations within a winter forest. Everything in its natural environment is magnified with a 7:1 field recorder that captures the purest form of nature’. Utilizing newly developed forms of FM, granular and modular synthesis, Stephen Hitchell aka Variant has crafted a glistening LP, one which pulls you under in a wash of cloud, and texture and bubbling dub-space. Tip for the dub tech heads = Basic Channel, Gas, Pole etc. Sonic insomnia cures. -Bleep

Echospace man Stephen Hitchell has been devoting much time to his Variant project over the last couple of years, releasing no less than nine, straight-to-tape explorations in 2015 alone. Here, he continues his seemingly endless voyage into the deep space where ambient, sound design and dub techno meet. Sequential Sleep is a double-disc affair, with each CD boasting one long take on the fluid, spacey, becalmed and hazy title track. The differences between the two are subtle, but certainly noticeable: the slightly longer Granular Mix (hosted on disc one) feels more fluid and spaced-out, while the Modular Mix (presumably titled in honour of Hitchell's chosen production method) is bolder and louder, with more distinctively layered electronic textures. -Juno

Variant is Stephen Hitchell (aka Intrusion), who is part of cv313 and Echospace along with Deepchord’s Rod Modell. He has dozens of albums as Variant and, unsurprisingly, they’re all pretty similar, especially his newer releases which mostly consist of hour-long aquatic ambient dub tracks. I have several of them, and for whatever reason, this one has been hitting me the hardest. Very washed-out, slow-moving, weightless, but bass-heavy, fluid, and amorphous. One disc is the “Granular Mix” and the other is the “Modular Mix”, and there’s apparently another version of the same album (with the same title and barcode) that has dub versions of both. So what makes this Variant album stand out from the others? I’m not really sure. I feel like searching for the answer to that question will take away from my enjoyment of it. All I know is that it feels like being in some sort of weird flotation tank and the last thing I want to do is get out of it. Both discs are an hour long each and I thought they were too short. -theanswerisinthebeat

Nearly 15 years have passed since the original version of this LP was released (the first iteration as a 4X12" LMTD set back in 2012), and it has truly aged like fine wine! This release features five timeless cuts from the mind and soul of cv313 and a truly mesmerizing otherwordly dub of the illusive radius project, mixed and recorded near the heart of Detroit! (with nearly all of the tracks making their debut on wax) This entire project has been beautifully remastered by dub innovator and pioneer, Stefan Betke [POLE] @ scape mastering in Berlin, DE. You can just drop the needle and close your eyes for a near 20 minutes of fathomless sonic depth, massaging your brain and mind, a deep dive into an immersive analogue world. A new addition to this newly minted vinyl iteration of the "Altering Illusions" series now includes cv313's blistering analogue assault on the darkest radius bit in the interpolation tapes series. Expect sub-harmonic deep space exploration in some seriously out-there electronic quadrants, some of the deepest techno reductions ever captured to tape!

Thoughts:

"Altering Illusions [Chapter One] cv313 is every bit as strong and essential as the debut cv313 album it supplements and acts as a nexus between cv313 material old and new.It is quite unlike anything cv313 has released before or since, a beautiful hybrid of cv313 textures, dense, whirring drones from Alva Noto’s Xerrox series of ambient albums and Thomas Koner’s panoramic soundscapes." -IGLOO MAGAZINE

"Ready to take off with Echospace Present: Altering Illusions (Chaper One). This one is the first in a trio of releases from the label, with cv313 supplying the movement. It's over two hours of ethereal technological rhythms, classic electronics and conscious altering sonic matter. It's grainy and gritty yet clear as a bell, searching for the new whilst paying respects to the masters." -NORMAN

"A wonderfully brilliant album. Stripped back yet contains so much to unpack. It offers such a hazy, sensitive atmosphere, Isis & the reduction tracks sound especially sonicaly fragile. Most of this album is essentially the auditory equivalent of a damp overcast foggy day. Despite that each track is guided by a constant deep beat, to tie everything together, and it ties it together wonderfully. The album itself is a wee bit long, however if you are in the right mood it's length does offer a generous amount of time to get lost in." -HAZE credits releases July 24, 2026

This release features the sonic worlds of variant's "vortexual" tape session series which includes all 8 editions clocking in at nearly 9 hours of sonic immersion deeper than the ocean floor. An expansive collection of all the developments which took place over the course of 4 years of recording this truly epic project. The sound design and vast array of analog circuitry illuminates these recordings with an ocean like depth, diving deeper than some of the original recordings.

Beautifully articulated commentary from our lovely supporters:

"A truly epic sound adventure. Ever moving and evolving. Washing through your ears like a deep underground river flowing with cavernous, reverberating bass and percussion. Stunning!"

"Probably the best music I’ve ever heard out of the tens of thousands of CDs in my collection. I would love it if this was played at my funeral... Phenomenal work! :) Favorite track: element four [tape session]."

"Echospace makes quantum processes audible. Even the most "static" noise is just part of a beautiful hidden structure."

"It takes some time to get this music. First you hear noise, then you notice movement. Then you notice patterns and finally you're making up little parts in your imagination to go along with it. Transforming."

"Variant is the aural equivalent of light from distant suns. It arrives, full of warmth, from across vast unfathomable distances. Compelled only by the invisible hand of the universe, it surrounds our atmosphere, indifferent to the woes of the world. Gentle, intimate, contented."

"Monumental collection. For the beauty of the sound, for the aura that emerges from it, i'd list these albums among the best and most important music collections of all time. The Dub Techno pillar is here, composed by 8 boulders, one above the other. Like Thomas Pynchon in modern literature, with his mammooth and eccentric books, this is Variant's master work and no one will ever rise easily above his level. This is pure absolute love in analogue tapes."

"Thank you so much for the warm exchange we had, and this collection ... This is an incredible chance you gave me. Thank you for those warm colors reflecting in my mind while winter came over Paris. You hold my heart."

"This Vortexual Tape Sessions series is simply astonishing. It's all there, in its most subtle form: the hiss, the resonance; the drone; the warmth; the space. Not a second of my time wasted. Brilliant. Favorite track: element one [tape session]."

"This is the ultimate look at the evolution of sound as created by Variant. Everything is embedded in these great sound-worlds in various permeations of modern electronic mixing and recording. Favorite track: element one [tape session]."

"element five = sex musik Favorite track: element five [tape session]."

Thank you for your support of these analogue dreams!

Freshly recut and remastered in 2026 by the one and only POLE @ ~scape mastering from the 1/4" analog tapes originally mastered by the talented fellas at Alchemy Mastering in London; only enhancing and enriching every finite detail with extra bass pressure! Nearly 6 years in the making, this new 12" marks the return of echospace's critically acclaimed Intrusion project. The first incarnation of "A Gentle Embrace" came in the form of three extended reshapes from cv313 & variant and now we're proud to offer the original work on beautiful crystal clear 160 gram wax. This new release was engineered and mixed down from 1/4" analog tape and mastered by bazza (Abbey Road Studios, Radiohead.) at Alchemy, London. We'll let the music do the rest of the talking, from our heart to yours...

Some feedback:

"Stephen Hitchell, one half of Motor City dub-techno operators Echospace, revives his Intrusion alias in 2015 for new album project A Gentle Embrace. That title speaks volumes, quietly. This is techno-music stripped back to its bare bones, its raw elements. The A side (Original) is filled with wave-upon-wave of gaseous atmospheres being tickled by a twitching, propulsive Wolfgang Voight percussion. Flip-side, Hitchell brings the Kick. But only just, before it disappears into the wormhole. Pressed loud on crystal clear 160g wax. Engineered and mixed down from 1/4" analogue tape and mastered by Bazza (Abbey Road Studios, Thom Yorke / Radiohead)... more

Freshly recut and remastered in 2026 by the one and only POLE @ ~scape mastering from the 1/4" analog tapes originally mastered by the talented fellas at Alchemy Mastering in London; focusing and enriching every finite detail. "Fading Lights,", a vortex of analog warmth provides a provocative synergy pushing the boundaries between synthetic and organic movement, a sonic illusion. These enthralling hypnotic moments lead us into the seduction of groove with, "Magenta" a lesson in space and bass. The art of restraint is clearly on display as one feels as they are floating in zero gravity for an extended 14 minute journey which leaves you feeling as though only a moment has gone by, sonic submersion of the highest order. This is music to drift out, to float in, to dream thru, to love to, the magic is in the mystics. Essential!

Thoughts:

Clear Vinyl - the first new 12" single from Echospace in 2014, engineered and mixed down from 1/4" analog tape and mastered at Alchemy Brand new gear from CV313's dub chamber, engineered and mixed down from 1/4" analog tape and mastered by Bazza at Alchemy. A-side delivers the effortless, skanking momentum of 'Fading Lights' buoyed by swollen subs and choked on dense, heavy shag atmospheres. B-side: 'Magenta' follows suit with thirteen minutes of frayed bass heave and clotted filter treatments delving deep into the most abyssal dub house subduction zones. -Boomkat

Rod Modell and Stephen Hitchell's cv313 project present new material, one of two 12"s released simultaneously on their Echospace Detroit label. Fading Lights is suitably deep, the ethereal hiss of space rolling over the lilting dub synth patterns for which the duo is famous. Magneta, on the flip, is a darker and deeper affair, far-off rattles and gurgles truly hypnotic in their composition. Sparse and simple, it takes a lot to make so vibrant a sound with so few elements, but these guys are the masters. -Bleep

As the second part of a two-pronged issue from the lauded Echospace camp, “Fading Lights” delivers everything you would want to hear from Rod Modell and Stephen Hitchell as they work expressive echoes and feedbacks into the most immersive dub techno money can buy. The icy swathes of gaseous mist that course between the grumbling chords keeps things at a cool constant, with no need for the track to rise above a gentle simmer to impart its magic. “Magenta” is even more distant in its disposition, keeping the static hiss in front of the mix and everything else pulsing away behind with the kind of subtlety that few can pull off quite so magnificently. -Juno

This was lovingly remastered by Bazza @ Alchemy Mastering in London, paying close attention to every finite detail. This master has never sounded so good. On the thicker, sludgier end of the cv313 spectrum, I'd say this is more inclined towards the very, very late nocturnal hours, perhaps just before morning twilight. Apart from the pulsing smog and undulating static the odd cascading dub fragment is all that litters the mix as it motors on against a wall of intangible resistance. 8/10 from Clinton (Staff) on 22 December 2015 Picture the scene. Our work Christmas do. Phil would like to do a small toast as the meals arrive. Myself and Ant are distracted, we are talking about…….Deepchord. We make amazing company.

So as you can see dub techno can infiltrate even the wildest of Christmas parties. It would be one step up to actually play this new CV313 release at a Christmas party. I’d certainly dance. It’s the usual silhouetted techno with fluttery things bouncing around the mix and it’s either at a higher BPM than normal or I’m playing it at the wrong speed. Switching overleaf is like switching from sitting on a plastic chair to nestling in a warm and snug armchair. It’s sooooooo soft! Beautiful pillows of sound emit from every gap in the cushions. It’s the listening equivalent of the material on a Marks and Spencer’s ladies dressing gown.

The original Lost Sequence was found on their 2009 Live CD and makes its first appearance on wax on the A-side. B-side, you’ll find Intrusion’s expanded, rolling dub; over 16 minutes of deep fried analog texture as claggy as a Glasgow chippy air vent. -Boomkat
